JJ had his first Father’s Day .  Natalie and I got him a hand-held/portable GPS which he was kind enough to let us use yesterday when we went to watch a swim meet.  Last night I got a sitter and took JJ out to dinner at Carraba’s.  Sirloin marsala with mashed potatoes for him and fettucine alfredo for me, plus Caesar salads for both of us.  Yummy.  This morning I brought him butter biscuits to church.  Mmmm … Bojangles greasy!

Natalie’s new favorite food is peas.  She loves them.  I can’t stand the smell of them so I hold them really far away from my face when I’m feeding her.  We had a pea revolt this afternoon – she and the peas ganged up on me and made a mess.

JJ found my iPod shuffle cable that has been lost since Easter.  Huzzah – I can put new music on it to go running in the morning!

Now that I’m off work and have time to make dinners here are some things I’ve made recently and will make this week:

  • Sirloin steak (seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder and just a dash of red cayenne), with mashed potatoes and zucchini broiled brushed with olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper
  • Mexican chicken stew, made with homemade chicken stock, lots of tomatoes and rice, and loaded with chicken and cumin
  • Pan-roasted salmon with mushroom risotto and roasted asparagus
  • Tomato-basil-mozzarella salad with red onions and homemade balsamic vinaigrette served with roasted red pepper soup
  • Pan fried pork chops served with spinach salad and bread
  • Roasted or grilled leg of lamb served with green beans and wild rice

Natalie can eat crackers.  Kinda.  She can gnaw and mash on those little Gerber things that are mostly fruit flavored puffed up air.  But it’s cute to watch her chew.

One morning we’re going to wake up and Nat is going to be crawling.  She’s propping herself up on all fours and rocking back and forth.  Once she figures out how to master alternative limb movement we’re in real trouble because she already gets into EVERYTHING and she’s not even going yet.  Thankfully we’ve babyproofed as much as we can and some things (like the corners of the walls) we’re just going to have to be careful.

We’re debating signing up for NetFlix for the summer and then maybe dropping down to the 1-DVD-at-a-time for the school year.  Anyone use NetFlix and have an opinion?
