With the end ripped out

So far this week I have …

  • played with my daughter – a LOT!  It’s been quite lovely.
  • done a ton of laundry – God bless my husband for doing it during the school year but since I’m here, and not working …
  • cooked!  Sunday night I made a mouthwatering (my husband says) roast that was braised for 4 hours in beef stock and red wine.  I made a gravy to pour over it and made a baked gnocchi to go with it.  Yum.  Monday I made blueberry muffins for us to have for breakfast this week.  Yesterday I made baked ziti with meatballs and made cupcakes and frosted them.  Today I’m going to make an Asian beef and noodle salad for our dinner.  Oh, and Monday night I made Hamburger Helper for dinner.  That’s not exactly my crowning achievement.
  • caught up on tv
  • cleaned my kitchen – did the baseboards (well, kind of – all the ones I could reach, I didn’t move furniture or anything), sanitized everything, scrubbed, wiped, vacuumed, and mopped
  • cleaned my laundry room – again, God bless my husband for doing laundry during the school year, but neatness is not one of his priorities so I scrubbed soap and fabric softener drippings off the shelves and off the sides of the machines, off the insides of the machines, off the floor … and then I reorganized all our stuff on the shelves and put towels under the detergent and softener to catch any drips – no more gooey laundry boogers!
  • read cookbooks and now am going to hopefully start reading some novels my friend Judy lent me.  When I read, I generally prefer non-fiction but for light summer reading, I’m a big novels fan.  Plus, I’ll probably go to the Durham Public Library and check out some of my favorite classics like The Secret Garden and The Grapes of Wrath.  I love me some John Steinbeck.  It’s like coming home to a comfy chair, those books.

Next week I hope to …

  • clean the bedroom – baseboards and all
  • clean the bathrooms (eeew)
  • do laundry again!
  • wait for whatever happens next

This staying home thing is GREAT.  And the best part is that tomorrow is going to be just like today — only different.
