Well, really, steel man.  About 10 years ago my brother, Bryant, found out he had some pretty severe scoliosis and it had to be corrected.  After a major surgical procedure that removed some disks from his spinal column and inserted a steel rod connected to five screws, his condition improved.  He would be forever plagued with varying degrees of back pain, his legs would ache, and he would not exactly be straight up and down ever again.  Well recently he’s been complaining of unusual back pain and so the doctor ordered some x-rays.  Ready for this?  THE STEEL ROD IS DETACHING FROM BRYANT’S SPINAL COLUMN.  No joke.  Just kind of popping off. Check out the x-rays on Bryant’s blog.  My mind is boggled at how something like this could happen.  Like, you would think that if someone is going to slice you open from the top part of your back to basically your abdomen, stick their hands in there, shove some organs aside, and then screw in steel bars that they could at least say that they wouldn’t have to go in there again.  So far we’re not sure how it’s going to be fixed but I think the general consensus is that the situation itself sucks.
