1/4 life crisis
January 28, 2007Oy, in 3 weeks I turn 25. It’s not like I’m actually having a 1/4 life crisis but it does seem like after 21 birthdays are more like … well … I don’t know but they’re not nearly as cheery as they were before you were 21. At any rate, I nearly forgot about it all together until my mother-in-law said something like “Someone has a birthday next month,” and I had to think through my list of immediate family before I realized she was talking about me. On my birthday I will pack up my 12 favorite teenagers, get in a van with my co-coach, and drive off to Charlotte at the early hour of pre-7 a.m. to coach at the NCISAA State Swim Meet. I think that JJ might try and get that day off (it’s also President’s Day) and come with us, but he’s certainly not obligated to. At any rate, there are few things I want for my birthday this year but I know that before too long there will be asking. So here you go.
- A massage and/or facial from Bella Trio Spa. Some serious treatment to make me feel like new again is highly needed, and would be highly appreciated.
- Nintendo Wii … and WarioWare
- Cookbooks by any of my Food Network favorites: Tyler Florence, Giada De Laurentiis, Alton Brown (Alton also has lovely DVDs ….)
But really what I’d like for my birthday is a phone call from Sabrina telling me she got a referral for a baby. So everyone hope for that. Ready … set … go.

WOOHOO! 25 is a MAJOR birthday. You see, everyone knows about 13 (official teenager), Sweet 16 (for girls), 18 (you can vote and buy cigarette), 21 (you can drink), but very few people realize how important 25 is. 25 is that age when you can rent a car (without paying a huge extra fee)!!! Yes, car breaks down, rent one… want to try one before you buy one, rent it… taking a long road trip, rent one and put the miles on it.
Congrats on your milestone.
