Last night at rehearsal I was running around trying to find a condenser mic and mic clip so that I could mic a cellist that was going to be playing with us for Good Friday and Easter services. Like the lovely person he is, JJ offered to help. We’re looking, looking, looking and I made some comment about how we haven’t used it in awhile and I couldn’t remember where it was the last time we did. JJ responded that we hadn’t used it since December. And the following conversation was had …
Angela: Well the last time we used it I think it was to mic me for the Christmas stuff ….
JJ: Yeah, that’s what I mean. We used it in December.
Angela: I can’t remember where it was last time though.
JJ: Me neither.
Angela: You were out of town that weekend … you wouldn’t know …
JJ: No, I helped set up the mic that night, remember?
Angela: No, you were out of town. You went to California …
JJ: But I set it up for you for the rehearsal …
Angela: No you didn’t … you weren’t here ….
JJ (looks at me with a mixed look of disgust and amusement): Yes. I. Was. I PROPOSED to you that night …
Angela (looks for place to hide and responds in itty bitty voice): oh yeah …
Oops. My bad.

I finally replaced my poor little broken MPIO player I got from Scott for my birthday. I am now the owner of a 256 MB SanDisk radio/mp3 player/voice recorder. I just got it yesterday so today will be my very first day in the gym with the new tunes. I’m looking forward to it.
My brackets are dead. JJ’s brackets are dead. No chance for winning money. None. Stupid upsets. When NC State knocked out UConn in the last minute of play my bracket basically died a quick and painless death. I think JJ’s may have been dead before that. UNC takes on Villanova tomorrow night at 10. Why they’re playing at 10 I don’t know. They’re playing in New York. Why can’t they play earlier? Like at 8? Oh well … gonna have to make myself stay awake for that one I guess.
Sabrina and Jamie said they’re going to throw me a bridal shower. Uh oh. That’s a step up from what I originally thought was going to happen though. Jamie had originally said she was going throw me a lingerie shower. *shudder* Glad I dodged the bullet on that one.
On Sunday Heidi introduced me to a lovely new flavor – Cinnamon Altoids. The first one I had burned like a … well, it burned. But I now have my very own box and they’re quite tasty and quite addictive. I maybe ought to stop eating them so enthusiastically. Or else I might end up with cinnamon in my bloodstream.

I’ve entered 2 brackets in the Baseball America NCAA pool. They had so many entries this year that we have enough for the top 3 to all take home sizable prizes. Just to give you an idea, we had 166 entries and at 5 bucks a pop … well you do the math but that means that first prize is around 630 dollars. Whew! JJ isn’t doing so hot in either his first or his second bracket with his first one being in 62nd place and his second one in 138th place. I’m not doing fantastic but I’m doing okay. My first bracket is in 13th and my second is in 62nd but who knows how these things turn out. So far the shockers have been that both Syracuse and Kansas were knocked out in the first round. Then, UW – Milwaukee knocked out Boston College, a 12th seed reaching the sweet 16. Gonzaga, the yearly underdog, fell to Bob Knight’s Texas Tech team. And nationally ranked Oklahoma fell to Utah today. I guess we just wait and see now.

Yeah baby it’s March Madness! It’s here, it’s here! Today starts one of the best times of the year. Last year I entered the BA pool and finished not bad for my first bracket ever. This year I’m in the BA bracket again and well … we’ll see. To see how the BA bracket is going click here: www.diptet.com/ncaa

This weekend JJ’s parents came to visit and we did all sorts of fun stuff.
Friday night we went to a Brazilian steakhouse called Rio Churrascaria that we were introduced to by Jamie when we went for Jamie’s birthday. Basically men carry big slabs of meat around on swords and ask you if you’d like to have some. So good. JJ, Jackie (his dad), and I were almost like, well, like animals going in for the kill. My personal favorite was the garlic-encrusted beef. Mmmmm. I think JJ’s was either that or the top sirloin. Poor Terry, JJ’s mom, was such a good sport. She’s the sweetest woman alive, and she’d have to be … she doesn’t eat red meat but had to sit there for quite some time watching us gnaw and tear at all that wonderful wonderful meat. Again, she’s a good sport. The chocolate mousse she got for dessert wasn’t bad either.
The next day we did our tasting at Maggiano’s which is where we’re having the rehearsal dinner. The Coopers had been in touch with the banquet manager, whose name is Misty, and had set up our tasting for us. JJ and I picked the food we wanted to taste and pick from and away we went. We had a waiter who brought out dish after dish. To start we tried the spinach artichoke dip, bruschetta, tomato slices with fresh mozzerella, basil and a vinaigrette dressing, and cheese ravioli. After each course we all ranked what we liked best and JJ and I made a decision as to what we were having. You’ll see the complete rehearsal dinner menu at the conclusion of this mouth-watering description. Following the appetizer course we tasted the pastas. JJ and I had decided to try the gnocchi (a cheese dumpling type pasta) with vodka tomato sauce, fettucine alfredo with broccoli, lasagna with meat sauce, and rigatoni with chicken and marsala cream sauce. Mmmmm. Following the pasta came the meat course. We tried the chicken marsala with mushrooms, roast beef tenderloino served with onion strings and mashed potatoes, and salmon with a garlic butter sauce and lemon. As if this weren’t enough … there was still dessert to come. They brought out cheesecake with whipped cream and strawberries, spumoni, and tiramisu. By the time it was all over there were 4 very full people and lots of leftover food. So they boxed the food up for us and JJ and I took it home. We’ve been eating it ever since. The whole experience was completely complimentary with the reservation and deposit that the Coopers had made and I am convinced that the rehearsal dinner is going to be perfect. Oh yeah … our menu … the best part!
Appetizer: Spinach artichoke dip with crispy bread; thick slices of tomato with fresh mozzerella slices on top with fresh basil and a vinaigrette dressing
Salad: Caesar and house chopped salad
Pasta: Fettucine alfredo with broccoli; gnocchi
Meat: Roast beef tenderloin served with onion strings and mashed potatoes; chicken marsala with button mushrooms
Dessert: cheesecake with strawberries; spumoni
Whew!
Saturday afternoon JJ and Terry went to look at our reception site while I stayed home and watched the Tar Heels take on Georgia Tech. Yes, I know how the game turned out and no I don’t want to talk about it. Saturday night we all went to On the Border for dinner (mmm … chicken quesadilla) and then Sunday there was church and enough time for lunch before the Coopers headed back to Perry. All in all a very nice, relaxing visit.
Oh! And the Coopers brought us our very first wedding presents! They got us our ice cream bowls and salad plates and our sheets and throw pillows. Aren’t they pretty? I love our everyday china that we’re getting. Blue blue blue! And our linens! Blue! I guess on some level JJ just has to be grateful my favorite color isn’t pink!
